Tryout season is around the corner. Skating is always a non-negotiable.

Book now and show up in April with speed and technique that blows your competition away!

From edges to stride and speed, our six week intensive will cover all aspects of skating integrating foundation with game application. It is recommended that players attend all six classes in order to see the best results.

  • The intensive begins with a firm look at each player’s stride techniques. We will discuss proper pushing mechanics and begin baseline balance fundamentals, emphasizing depth and length in stride.

The famous ‘Connor McDavid’ cross-over stride will be taught as well as proper start-off technique, showing players how to gain speed from a standstill. Edge foundation will also be introduced to effectively complement this technique.

  • Week two is all edge-work. Inside, outside, pivots, and backwards work will be taught, educating players on evasive techniques (edge dependent) that can be used in game situations on both the offensive and defensive side of the game.

We start slow and simple, but as my players can attest, edges with Bronwyn become crazy pretty quickly! Expect transitional skating and controlled single-foot movements, with and without a puck.

  • Return to stride with a focus on incorporating stride and edge-work to build speed that defenders will struggle to keep track of.

Hockey-specific conversations on creating ‘shiftiness’ with our skating will be discussed and players will continue to learn how to incorporate ‘East-West’ movement while travelling ‘North-South.’

Lots of speed with the puck, transitional skating (forward/backward, creating smooth and controlled movement).

  • SPEED.

    The secret sauce.

    Expect to be sweaty.

You will be doing a lot of stops and starts and learning how to maximize your power even when tired.

  • Backwards!

“But I’m a forward, why do I need to have good backward skating?”

    Said no NHLer ever.

Players will concentrate on backward edges, building off the foundations taught in weeks two and three. Pivots, protective techniques, and proper defensive movement will be taught, giving players a wheelhouse of knowledge on all aspects of the game.

  • SPEED x2.

Because at the end of the day, it matters how fast you are.

    Backwards, forwards, with pucks, without.

It all comes together in week six.
